An Attempt to Forecast the Labour Market for Scientists in France

1996

The resultats presented here are based on a study conducted at the request of the French Ministry of Research. The first part presents the context of the labour market for scientists in France and the second and the third parts show the results of a supply/demand model. The model forecasts the absence of a shortage of scientists, which was not the common opinion at that time. A final part discusses the main conclusions and the implications of the exercise.
